e-pendler - E-mobile in Lower Austria: Technical Accompanying Research

Synopsis

It is the main aim in the model region of "e-pendler in Lower Austria" is to restructure commuter traffic through shifting it to public transport and with the introduction of electric vehicles for individual journeys and in doing so bring about more energy efficient and climate friendly travel. In addition to that electric vehicles and public transport options will be combined as multi-modal chains of transport. The starting point is always the user with their different variety of mobility needs.

Structured on the various starting situations and needs in the relevant target groups four multiple models with concrete e-mobility options will be developed, inclusive of the necessary (e-)infrastructure.

Mission Statement of the Accompanying Research

Beginning with the approach of ,multiple models’ in the context of the accompanying research the following topics are particularly relevant: the preparation of data, analysis and conclusion (all of the latter make up the statement catalogue of the accompanying research):

  • Charging characteristics and power demand for charging
  • Effects on the power network (low voltage stations) and the energy supply; projection of usage data
  • Driving profile
  • User behaviour
  • Customer acceptance of the offer
  • Presentation of the condition and development of charging infrastructure concerning type, usage and characteristics as well as the associated technical possibilities
  • Verification of the collaboration of tourist and professional drivers
  • Presentation/verification of the features of the incorporation of e-mobility in operational mobility management
  • Monitoring of effects on both traffic and environment

Aims of the accompanying research

In summary the aims of the accompanying research could definitely categorised in the following way:

  • Review of user behaviour / user acceptance
  • Continuous examination of the "multiply effect" for municipality and local businesses
  • Monitorung and evaluation (technical and organisational)
  • Nachweis der verkehrlichen und ökologischen Effekte
  • Proof of effects on trafic and ecology
  • Analysis of the charging infrastructure, the charging characteristics and the effects on power supply
