Blackouts in Austria Part I


The project ,,Blackouts in Austria‘‘ analyses the economic and social consequences of large scale power cuts within the Austrian power network. The aim of this project is the creation of a wide database as the basis of political security, economic and infrastructural decisions (part 1) and the development of strategies and paths in order to maintain the existing safety situation to prevent the occurrence of large scale power cuts in Austria (part 2).

  1. Determination of causes and probabilities of various black out scenarios in Austria
  2. Determination of instantaneous damage to all levels of society: economic, public, household
  3. Determination of medium and long term effects on the national economy of large scale power cuts
  4. Determination of various societally perceived threats and damage vulnerability within the population
